Throughout life we all lose people or relationships that were important to us. We grieve for these losses in different ways but often grief can include feelings of sadness, anger, numbness, disbelieve. We can also have great difficulty letting go.
Part of coming to terms with a loss is learning to cope and adapt our lives to move on without the person we have lost. We can feel that we are going to forget the person or that it’s not ok to begin enjoying life again now that they have gone.
Grief can be complicated by situations we find our selves in and by the circumstances surrounding the loss. Factors such as suicide, sudden death, death of a child amongst others can impact on the grieving process.
Some people can work through their grief without help and others can feel ‘stuck’ and unable to move on.
